Curls, Coils & was born from a simple truth: the textured hair community deserves better. Better business opportunities. Better support for vulnerable children. Better protection from discrimination.
Co-founders Jade Buffong and Jo Wong bring complementary expertise. Jade, founder of Mane Hook-Up (a beauty booking platform for textured hairstylists), witnessed talented stylists struggling financially despite serving a lucrative market. Jo, with a commercial background including Estée Lauder and MAC Cosmetics, understood the business systems needed for sustainable change.
Together, they envisioned an organisation addressing the full spectrum of community needs—empowering entrepreneurs, supporting vulnerable children, and fighting systemic discrimination.
Curls, Coils & launched publicly in January 2026 as a Community Interest Company (CIC), ensuring our mission always prioritises community benefit over profit.

Commercial expertise from Estée Lauder and MAC Cosmetics, where she established MAC stores across the Caribbean. Founder of Let's Grow BFF, supporting Black beauty founders with business consulting. Leads commercial growth and operational efficiency for Curls, Coils &.

Cataanda James

Global Head of Education

Ex-celebrity hairstylist with 30 years' experience. Worked with L'Oréal, Dark & Lovely, and Carol's Daughter on product formulation. Deep expertise in hair care education and community engagement. Oversees all educational initiatives across three branches.
